During this health pandemic, safety has become top of everyone’s mind. Businesses and residences alike are going out of their way to maximize their client’s health and safety.

If you are in the process of finding an apartment but have concerns regarding COVID-19 and high rise living, rest assured that you don’t need to postpone finding your dream property.

Throughout Chicago, high rise apartments are taking safety precautions to keep their buildings clean and provide their residents with greater peace of mind.

What Buildings Are Doing to Maintain Resident Safety with Covid

With a high number of residents and shared spaces, Chicago apartment buildings are prioritizing the health safety of their residents through various measurements.

Almost all managed buildings have hired additional cleaning staff to increase cleaning services and capacity.

Buildings are paying extra attention to their amenities and shared space. Amenities, such as working spaces or outdoor patios, temporarily close during the day so that the building staff can sanitize and wipe down all surfaces.

Many building amenities also operate at a lower capacity or require that guests reserve time slots. These new policies can minimize people coming and going while also ensuring proper social distancing.

It is not uncommon for apartment buildings to prohibit outside guests from using the amenities while the pandemic is still in effect.

When residents receive food or deliveries, they are left in a dedicated space in the lobby to limit elevator exposure. Additionally, the number of residents allowed on elevators has decreased.

Recently, many managed buildings have taken advantage of Pear Chef. This service provides a private chef on site that will cook and deliver food like room service

500 N Lake Shore Drive is one of the many buildings committed to their tenant’s well-being by closing their amenities twice a day for an hour each to conduct a thorough clean of the space.

Wolfe Point East has also responded to COVID-19 by enhancing their cleaning protocols. This luxury high-rise is closing amenity areas to protect residents and has converted to a completely online leasing model featuring virtual tours and the existing web-based leasing portal. Additionally, management has engaged the top quality janitorial contractors and established protocols to deep clean any common area space that has possible contamination, 24/7.
